| Beaver Falls Hydro Plant is a 2.5MW hydro electric
generating station located near Beaver Falls NY, and is approximately
15 minutes from Algonquin’s New York regional office. The
plant consists of two distinct generating plants, the first being
a 1.5 MW unit installed on the upper Beaver Falls dam and the second
site, located approximately 300 meters downstream consists of two
generating units rated at 500 kW each on the lower Beaver Falls
dam.
The power purchase agreement for the Beaver Falls facility is for
a term ending in December 2019, and electrical energy produced by
the Project is sold to Niagara Mohawk. Under the terms of the agreement,
the Project will receive between 65-70% of the hourly free market
price for the electricity produced. After expiration of the power
purchase agreement, the Project is expected to receive 100% of the
free market value for the energy.
