| The facility is a 4,000 kilowatt hydroelectric generating
facility located on Rattle Brook, approximately four kilometres
north of Jackson’s Arm, in the Province of Newfoundland. The
facility was commissioned in December 1998. The major civil works
was completed by Northland Contractors Inc., a Newfoundland contractor.
The facility is a run-of-the-river facility and there will be no
storage of water for peaking purposes. A penstock will run 1,100
metres from a small dam to the powerhouse. The powerhouse is a single
story building which house a single horizontal turbine attached
to a synchronous air cooled generator. The interconnection point
for delivery of electricity to the power purchaser is adjacent to
the facility and therefore no transmission line was required.
The power purchase agreement will remain in effect for 25 years
commencing on the commercial in-service date, December 1998 and
may be renewed for a further term of 25 years upon terms mutually
agreed.
